You're a whale. (Stay with me) šŸ‹

What I’m about to say is not meant to insult. Promise I’m going somewhere with this…

You’re a whale. (That’s the hardest part.)

So am I. (We’re in this together.)

We’re magnificent, warm-blooded mammals. We each have our own unique song. And I often feel heavy and need to come up for air. (You too?)

Whales use sound to navigate the vast, dark, pressured depths of Earth’s oceans.

Researchers have found that when ocean noise pollution increases, whales struggle to hear each other and themselves. The external noise drowns out their resonance and the signals they need to send and receive in order to survive.

This ā€œmaskingā€ of sound causes stress hormone levels to increase, communication breakdowns in relationships, and drives them to leave their habitats.

They get lost. Sick. Disoriented. Disconnected.

Am I still talking about the whales, or us?

We’re more alike than we are different.

Balm exists to quiet the water for you.

In a previous letter, I called you a meat sack. (I’m noticing a pattern and it comes with loving intention.)

You’re also a water bag. About 60%.

So let me introduce you to Trish.

When Trish plays her singing bowls and chimes, the sound vibrations move through the air and the body the way light moves through water.

Slowly, gently, sparkly, finding every corner. Her soundscapes remind me of what I imagine a rainforest sounds like from the inside. Layered, alive, unhurried, sacred.

In the space she holds, I find my way back to my own nature. Away from modern day buzz, traffic, construction, wifi, endless chitter chatter of content, even the distorted voices in my own head. I feel my own frequency. I hear my own song. I am a peaceful whale.

And I hope it does the same for you.

Join us March 8. We warm up our bodies and use our voices to tune into love. Trish rings her singing bowls. And every resonant being in the room discovers they are one too.

With love,
Karen
