🪷 When enough, is enough

In a world of more

I constantly find myself reaching and gathering. Filling my mind with whatʻs missing, what could be more, what might make it better.

In the first year of building Balm, this mantra found me: Let it be enough. It continues to save me from the black hole of scarcity.

Not as a way to settle, but as a way to stay. Enough not as a measurement, but as a starting point to return to.

This weekʻs care kit will root you back into the abundance of whatʻs already here.

May it be enough.

🎶 One Song

A meditative and healing song, sung by an ancestral voice.

For me itʻs like sitting in a park with the grass, trees, and sky. Watching people do their thing on a warm Sunday afternoon. Hearing the distinction of their voices, the silences between, and the hum they become together. Getting whispers from a faraway summer breeze that meets you right here.

Youʻre about to listen to “Les Voix Humaines” by a French baroque composer named Marin Marais with full South African flavour delivered by cellist/singer/improviser Abel Selaocoe. He weaves a tune inside of it called “Tsohle Tsohle”. A portal into one and ONE.

✍️ One Poem

OTHERWISE

I got out of bed
on two strong legs.
It might have been
otherwise. I ate
cereal, sweet
milk, ripe, flawless
peach. It might
have been otherwise.
I took the dog uphill
to the birch wood.
All morning I did
the work I love.
At noon I lay down
with my mate. It might
have been otherwise.
We ate dinner together
at a table with silver
candlesticks. It might
have been otherwise.
I slept in a bed
in a room with paintings
on the walls, and
planned another day
just like this day.
But one day, I know,
it will be otherwise.

〰️ One Move

For when youʻre asking, “When is enough, enough?!”

Place your left hand on your heart and the right hand on your belly.
Close your eyes.
Notice the rise and fall of your body as you breathe.
Feel the waves of your breath moving from your chest to your core.
Play with little shallow breaths and deep expansive breaths.
When youʻre ready, fill your body with an inhale…
And on your exhale, hum or sing the word “looove”…
Do this 8 times.
Notice the sound, sensations, and presence of your soul, self, and spirit resonating as one.
♾️

We call this move, Let This Be Enough.

It’s entirely possible that someone else is reading this love letter too, just as you are now. The thought of us sharing this quiet moment together delights me.

Wishing you pause, presence, and peace
