đź’– Ever heard a cello sigh?
Hello friend đź‘‹
For me, the cello is the most romantic instrument.
The sound is so deep, so full of longing. It can break your heart while healing it at the same time. Savage.
Did you know that the cello is often described as the instrument closest to the human voice?
Imagine moving from a low bass, to tenor, to alto, and up to soprano in one fell swoop—Barry White, Al Green, Etta James, and Mariah Carey vocalizing from one body. Dang!
The cello can moan, growl, screech, whisper, and sigh. It can sound earthy, gritty, soulful, mellow, and destitute. Expressing the full range of human emotions.
Then there’s the physicality of the cello. A curvy body, hugged closely in the arms and between the legs of its player. Stroked, pulled, and plucked sounds that poke and pleasure the listener.
Through the cello, we don’t just hear music—we can hear ourselves. It gives us permission to slow down, to feel, to see what’s beneath the surface.
And this is exactly why the cello is at the heart of our next Soul Care Sunday.
Join us for a love letter to slowing down 🦥
On February 16, we’re creating a space to sink into the romance of slowing down—to let the cello’s deep, resonant voice guide us into the pleasure of presence.
It will be an introspective morning. To listen, not just with our ears, but with our whole bodies. To see, not just with our eyes, but with the wisdom of our hearts. To be as we’re meant to be.
Together, we will soften into music, poetry, movement, and stillness. We’ll let time stretch, let longing and release take shape, and let ourselves feel what needs to be felt—the way only music and silence allows.
Re-emerge with a great big sigh.
