From Türkiye with love 🇹🇷

I'm back from Türkiye 🇹🇷

It was a 12-day adventure, trip of a lifetime with my mama. First time travelling together, just the two of us.

To think, I almost didn't go.

The interior walls of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul
are adorned with over 20,000 handmade blue Iznik tiles.

For various reasons. Uncertainty about safety in the Middle East with the US-Israel war on Iran. Plus the itinerary wasn’t on my bucket list. But time with her, was. Getting to know her deeper, exploring with her, making memories. I’m eternally grateful it worked out for us.

After sharing a hotel room together for almost two weeks, I woke up this morning, missing the sound of her phone alarm, her morning voice, her loud deep breathing as she begins to move her body after rising.

It’s funny, the little things we remember and hold dear.

Even in a place that houses one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World from over 3,000 years ago. I’ll remember the feeling of walking hand-in-hand, fingers interlaced with my mom.

There’s so much more to process. What we did, heard, saw. What I noticed, felt, learned.

Writing is the best way for me to turn those now invisible experiences into something I can look at again, witness, and understand.

But you know how life is when you get back from vacation. And how challenging it can be to make time to write it down before it becomes a distant dream.

Luckily our next Soul Care Sunday on May 24 will be perfect for this. It was planned before the trip and I’d say that is divine timing.

I don’t know exactly what prompts Simone will bring to the writing journey, but I know for sure they will bring out some aha moments.

So if you’ve also been meaning to make time to reflect and integrate this season of your life through writing, this Sunday is for you.

For the next 24 hours only, you can use the code DIVINETIMING for $20 off the regular ticket price. The code will expire Thursday May 21 at 7am.

In case you’re wondering…”Why would we gather to write?”

I’ve asked the same question, and the only way I learned was to actually do it. Even uncomfortably.

You can write alone at home. But gathering offers structure, intention, and accountability. Writing together also normalizes the fact that we’re all creative creatures seeking meaning and belonging.

In case you’re worrying…”What if I don’t know what to write?”

That’s what the prompts are for. You don’t need to arrive with answers, just willingness and curiosity to discover what might reveal itself. It’s a lot like going on an adventure in a new city when you’re not exactly sure what you’ll discover.

In case you’re hesitating…”Will I have to share what I write?”

Only if you want to. There’s no pressure to perform, be profound, or read anything out loud. Sometimes the most meaningful part is simply giving yourself permission to hear your own thoughts again.

I’ve personally found when writing with others in this kind of setting leaves less room for perfectionism and more room for surprise, honesty, and play. It’s delightful!

“No road is long with good company.”
