Adulting is hard

If you're tired, you're not alone.

Hello friend 👋

12 days into the new year and the general sentiment feels heavy. Can we just take a moment to acknowledge that adulting is hard.

Maybe you haven’t even recovered yet from the holidays. Feeling the magic and joy of the season while the to-do lists, responsibilities, and bills keep running. Making the most of every moment can leave us feeling depleted, even as we’re filling up.

Meanwhile wildfires ravage through L.A., our Prime Minister resigned, and the lives of humans all around the world continue to get discounted for the capital gain of the ruling class. What are we doing to each other and our planet?

A part of you caught up in an endless scroll of useful information, humans doing incredible things, and pandas napping in the rain. While another part of you knows there’s a more nourishing way to take a break. Your insides in a constant tug-of-war.

If you’re tired, you’re not alone.

It’s okay to want to rest.

As artist/activist Tricia Hersey says in her work through The Nap Ministry,

“If you are not resting, you will not make it. I need you to make it.”

An invitation to take a break from adulting, but in a responsible, adult way 🫠

How often do you long to just show up and not have to worry about a thing because everything’s taken care of? Like dinner time as a kid, but with adult taste.

You don’t have to think about what to make that’s nutritious and delicious. You don’t have to set the table. You don’t have to clean up. You just show up and sit down to enjoy some comforting flavours, get surprised by something new, and delight in a pleasant atmosphere. At the end of the meal, you feel full in more ways than just your belly.

The first of five Soul Care Sundays in 2025 is on January 19—just 7 days from today.

Because adulting is hard, we’re going to restore balance by hanging out with the care-free and playful energy of our inner child.

We have a 90-minute indoor recess planned for you.

The program will take you through all the R&R’s. Because you know I love alliteration.

✨ Release - shake off tension, move freely, let go
✨ Relax - lie back, allow music to hold you
✨ Reflect - space to tune in, not tune out
🎶 Robert Schumann’s Kinderszenen “Scenes from Childhood” who wrote 13 piano pieces to take adults back to childhood, played for you by Michelle Lau.

No work, no worries. Like when you were a kid.

Our goal is that you leave feeling lighter, less tired, and maybe even younger! 🤭

Click here to reserve your spot. And if you already signed up, invite a friend!

Feel free to bring a stuffie! (Like Liz, who brought her sloth when we explored 7 Types of Rest in November, and her Hello Kitty at December’s session on connection.)

Can’t wait to see you at indoor recess.
